Who we are

Canadian Military Wives Choirs are all women choirs which aim to support military women through vocal music and camaraderie. Members are closely associated with the military, either by marriage, partnership or by occupation, and there is a strong emphasis on friendship and fun. The choir meets weekly, there are no auditions and no musical experience is required.

Our goal is to establish choirs on every military base across Canada. The nomadic life of the military family means that it can be difficult to put down roots, make friends, and integrate into the new community with each move. The Canadian Military Wives Choirs are creative, fun-filled ways for women to support each other through difficult times and to celebrate successes and good times – all while singing!

““Our ladies love the connections they have made through the choir experience. They know that we are there for each other and support one another. Music is a universal language.””

Our Story

Canadian Military Wives Choirs began in the fall of 2013, with the first choir setting up in Ottawa, Ontario.
It followed the global success of the Military Wives Choirs movement started in the UK. Since then choirs have sprung to life in seven provinces across the country. Today we are delighted to have fifteen choirs of 400+ women and can’t wait to add more.

The choirs are all about support - both vocal and personal, requiring no singing experience or auditions, it is amazing how much we can accomplish and sound marvellous along the way!
