CMWC Esquimalt

We are a non-audition, three-part choir open to all those who identify as women and are connected to CFB Esquimalt and / or the Greater Victoria Military Community, either through your relationship or employment.

You can find us practicing on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00pm, September to June,

Our Story

The Canadian Military Wives Choir Esquimalt was founded in January of 2018.  Military Wives Choirs originated in the UK, and there are now more than eighty choirs worldwide. Canadian Military Wives Choirs are all female choirs, which aim to support women, in our military community, through vocal music and camaraderie. Members are closely associated with the military, either by their relationships or by occupation, and there is a strong emphasis on friendship and fun. Each choir is volunteer operated and covers its expenses through membership dues and donations from the local community.

Our main purpose is to create a support network for women in the military community through singing. The nomadic life of the military family means that it can be difficult to put down roots, make friends, and create support networks. The Canadian Military Wives Choir Esquimalt is a creative, fun-filled way for women to support each other through difficult times and to celebrate the successes and good times of each member – all while singing!

The choir has had several appearances including performances at the Langford Legion for Remembrance Day, both Colwood Naval Chapels as part of their Christmas services and singing the Canadian and American National Anthems for a Victoria Harbour Cats baseball game at Royal Athletic Park.  We look forward to future community engagements.

We also look forward to hearing from you!
